Lisa Krigel’s work is always an investigation of a theme involving combinations or multiples of pieces that utilise many ceramic processes and mixed media ultimately informing or telling part of a story. A recently completed theme was an observation of wedding customs and traditions from cultures around the world that resulted in the successful show ‘Wedding Stories’.
The consistent thread that runs through all of her work is a playful exploration along the delicate line between form and function as she veers to and from the kitsch.
This series of bejewelled porcelain teapots all stemmed from an incident with a couple of insects in a sweet shop and is just the start of a story concerning food and decay.
