The Interbeing project launched in May 2021 at The Ceramic House with Emptiness is Form, an exhibition featuring contemporary Chinese ceramics by international artists of Chinese heritage.
The opening event consisted of a virtual opening on zoom followed by an in-person event. Online, Kay Aplin took viewers on a virtual tour of the exhibition and exhibiting artists Jenny Chan and Ling Chun gave presentations of their work.
At the opening event, Joseph Young performed his China sounds with his sonic baton, conducting field recordings from his research trip to China. Monica Tong involved the audience in a gorgeous participatory performance using her porcelain sonic sculptures.
Beautiful photographs of the vernissage by Sophie Sheinwald.
What an inspiring place! Great energy and lovely work – the combination of black and white “restraint” and exuberant colour works really well! And very friendly welcome! Very special.
