Listening Hands Tai Chi event day in Chinatown

Listening Hands is a new sound art/performance film devised and created by Joseph Young produced in collaboration with a Vitafilms.
On 1st September, in the main square of Chinatown, Roswitha Chesher will film a Tai Chi community group from London Chinese Community Centre practising the form together with Joseph Young who will be conducting sounds with his custom made Sonic Baton instrument recorded in various locations across China. Anyone who practices Tai Chi is welcome to join in. The footage will be edited into an art film featuring Joseph’s sounds forming the soundtrack and the Tai Chi movement
Meeting point: Chinatown Main Square
Time: 12-1.30pm
The film will be premiered at London Chinese Community Centre on Silver Sunday, 3rd October, a national day celebrating older people.
Listening Hands is part of INTERBEING, an exploration of collaborative ceramic and sound art practice in Britain and China taking place throughout 2021 curated by Kay Aplin & Joseph Young of The Ceramic House, Brighton.
