Mary Conroy

Mary Conroy is a cross-disciplinary artist working between Limerick and Kilkenny in Ireland. She received her B.Des. in Ceramics from Limerick School of Art and Design (LSAD) 2004. She received her MA in Social Practice and the Creative Environment from LSAD in 2011. Her practice includes both object-based exhibitions, site specific installation and socially engaged project work.

Recent exhibitions include Collect, Somerset House, London (2023), Conjuring Form – Portfolio Critical Collection, National Design and Craft Gallery, Ireland, (2022), The Feminist Supermarket, Ormston House, Limerick, (2021). Recent residencies and projects include A Magic Moving Living Thing, Butler Gallery, Kilkenny (2022), An Urgent Enquiry,  Fingal, Dublin (2019), and  What Are You Made of Folkestone?, Folkestone, UK, (2021), where she represented Ireland on the Creative Europe project, Magic Carpets. She was also the selected Irish artist on a team of 6 international artists for Creative Europe project Memory of Water producing work in Greece, Poland, and Scotland (2018-2020). 

Mary is a founding member of the Materials Matter Collective; a collaborative research and education project focusing on material sustainability and environmental awareness within the process of art production. She currently works as a lecturer in Limerick School of Art and Design.
