Virginia Graham’sceramics are an eclectic amalgamation of nostalgic form and imagery. She combines slip casting and hand building techniques to create functional stoneware pieces ranging from teapots, cups and jugs to vases, planters and larger vessels.

Their forms are ‘collaged’ together using slabs of clay and moulded pieces, whilst their surface decoration incorporates slip painting, stencilling and transfer printing techniques that reference wares from industrial ceramic history such as Cornish ware, Mocha ware and Chintz ware. The resulting pieces are precious and collectable yet strangely familiar.

Having graduated from University of Wales Institute Cardiff in 2000 with a first class degree in Ceramics, Virginia set up her studio later that year and has been making and exhibiting throughout the UK and internationally ever since.

For many years she worked from Fireworks Clay Studios in Cardiff, but she now works from her garden studio in Wiltshire.
