Kay Aplin is currently artist in residence at A.I.R. Vallauris in the south of France for the month of April. She will be developing new work in the beautiful town of Vallauris on the Côte d’Azur, centre for ceramics and famous for its association with Picasso and the home of his ceramic creations and she will be gathering inspiration from surroundings that have drawn artists through the ages.

A.I.R. Vallauris and the Gallery Aqui Siam Ben invite you to the traditional local artistic event entitled “The first Friday of the month”. Here you will meet five international artists in residence: Kay APLIN (UK, Germany), Jups KLUYSKENS (Netherlands), Havi PETERSON (USA), Laurence PLOUVIER (France), Helen SONG (Canada) in their workspace “Atelier 21” and see their work in progress.
New works are also exhibited in the Gallery Aqui Siam Ben.
This event is part of the European Days of Crafts (JEMA). Running from March 31 to April 6, 2025, the JEMA is an opportunity for the general public to discover art and living heritage crafts through open houses and meetings with professionals in France and Europe.
If you are passing nearby any time between now and the 2nd of May you are most welcome to visit Kay in the studio.The results of the residency will culminate with an exhibition on 26th April, details to follow.
