IAC Residencies Exhibition, Taoxichuan Art Museum, Jingdezhen, China

As part of the 52nd Congress of the International Academy of Ceramics in Jingdezhen, which took place 27th June- 2nd July 2026, one of the three IAC member exhibitions on display in Taoxichuan Art Museum is the Residencies Exhibition.

Kay Aplin undertook a residency at Longquan Wangou Taoxichuan International Studio in Longquan, China, where she was resident for 2 months throughout May and June 2026. For the exhibition currently on display she is presenting a brand new piece of work called Seeds Longquan Blue.

This piece augments her Seeds series, created for the New Members show of the Selected Members of the Craft Potters Association, exhibited at Contemporary Ceramics in February 2025. In Longquan she had the opportunity to create larger versions of this work, fired in the wood kiln.

The exhibition – jointly curated by Luke Li Chao and Zhang Jingjing – is at the Taoxichuan Art Museum in Jingdezhen, China. The exhibition dates are 28 June to 31 August 2026. There was a grand opening ceremony on the first day of the IAC congress, together with two other exhibitions, the Members’ Exhibition, which she is also participating in, and the New Members of the IAC show.

Kay is the representative for the UK, Ireland and Benelux Countries on the Council of the International Academy of Ceramics.
