Asturian turquoise tiles
Kay Aplin designed her Asturian wavy tiles for a private commission for a doorway for a villa in Asturias in Northern Spain. The designs were inspired by pre-Romanesque architecture she discovered in the region. The tiles consist of two designs that join together to form an undulating line which moves along the length of the tiles. The glaze is one colour which changes significantly depending on the thickness of the application and its position in the kiln, ranging from mottled toasty beige to blue, with lichen-like spots. Please indicate if you have a colour preference.
