Description

These tiles were designed for Kay Aplin’s public art commission the Llanbradach Follies in South Wales. Kay created over 2000 hand pressed relief tiles to clad two 5m high turrets in Llanbradach town centre. The inspiration came from nearby Castle Coch, a folly design day William Burges for the Marquis of Bute.

Title: Llanbradach spire tiles
Medium: Glazed stoneware with hand painted underglaze and oxide decoration
Dimensions: 10cm square

The east turret has blue chevron tiles cladding the spire and the west turrets has green spiral tiles cladding the spire. Kay subsequently used leftover tiles to create the first tiled room at The Ceramic House, the Llanbradach Spires bathroom. There are enough tiles left over to clad an area behind a bath or a sink, between 1-2 square metres. Kay can also make more to order. Please get in touch if you are interested in a tiled feature in a bathroom or elsewhere in your living space, interior or exterior, for a quote. The price will be discounted for a number of tiles and the price varies depending on the size.
